[Guide] Don't Get Locked Out: Mastering Your Digital Door Lock 99% of Korean homes use digital door locks instead of physical keys. Here is what you must do on moving day and how to handle a dead battery.

• Changing the Password: You MUST change the previous tenant's PIN on day one. While the door is open, open the inner battery cover and usually follow this sequence: Press the 'Register' (Set) button ➔ Enter your new PIN ➔ Press the Asterisk (*) button. (Check the instructions printed inside the cover, as models vary).

• Emergency Battery Fix (Crucial!): If you come home and the lock is completely dead, don't panic. Run to a convenience store, buy a "Rectangular 9V Battery," and hold it against the two silver emergency power terminals on the outside of the lock. While holding it there, enter your PIN. The door will open temporarily. Immediately replace all 4 batteries inside!
