법무부가 2025년 12월 1일부터 자동출입국심사 이용 국가를 기존 4개국(독일, 대만, 홍콩, 마카오)에서 총 18개국으로 대폭 확대했습니다. 이번에 새로 추가된 14개 국가는 영국, 프랑스, 이탈리아, 핀란드, 포르투갈, 체코, 네덜란드, 헝가리, 호주, 뉴질랜드, 멕시코, 일본, 싱가포르, 아랍에미리트(UAE)입니다. 이제 한국을 찾는 외국인 입국자의 약 40%가 자동출입국심사를 이용할 수 있어, 최대 90분 가까이 걸리던 입국 대기시간을 크게 줄일 것으로 기대됩니다.

자동출입국심사 사전등록 창구도 인천공항 제1여객터미널 서편 1곳에서 제1터미널 동편, 제2터미널 입국장 동·서편까지 총 4곳으로 늘어 보다 편리하게 등록·이용이 가능해졌습니다. 실제 첫날 자동심사를 이용한 일본·싱가포르·이탈리아 국적 여행객들은 “입국심사가 빠르고 간편하다”, “어른은 자동심사대, 아이는 가족친화심사대를 이용해 효율적이었다”고 긍정적인 소감을 전했습니다. 법무부는 인천공항 시범운영 결과를 분석해 향후 전국 공항으로 확대하는 방안도 검토할 계획입니다.

From December 1, 2025, the Ministry of Justice of Korea has significantly expanded the list of countries eligible to use automated immigration gates. The number of eligible countries has increased from 4 (Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao) to 18 in total. Newly added are the UK, France, Italy, Finland, Portugal, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Hungary, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Japan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As a result, about 40% of all foreign visitors to Korea can now use automated immigration clearance, which is expected to greatly reduce waiting times that used to reach up to 90 minutes during peak seasons.

Pre-registration booths for automated gates have also been expanded from one location at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 (west side) to four in total, including the east side of Terminal 1 and both east and west sides of Terminal 2 arrival halls. On the first day of the expansion, travelers from Japan, Singapore and Italy reported that the procedure was “fast and simple” and that using automated gates for adults and family-friendly lanes for children was “very efficient.” The Ministry plans to analyze the pilot operation at Incheon Airport and consider expanding the system to other airports nationwide.
