2) 외국인 취업정보 온라인 신고제 확대 (시행: 2026년 1월 2일)

체류기간 연장/체류자격 변경 등으로 출입국 방문예약 시, 취업정보(직종·업종·연간소득 등) 온라인 사전신고 필요
외국인등록 직후 첫 신고 또는 취업정보 변동 시에도 하이코리아(HIKOREA) 전자민원에서 간편 신고
시범운영(1~6월) 동안은 온라인 신고 + 서면 신고 병행

Key updates for foreign residents in 2026 (MOJ Policy Highlights)

Ministry of Justice (Korea) announced two major changes for 2026: (1) the new K-STAR visa track for top science & tech talent (Feb 2026) and (2) expanded online job-information reporting for foreign residents (Jan 2, 2026).

1) New K-STAR Visa Track (Effective: Feb 2026)

A fast-track program to help foreign Master’s/PhD-level S&T talent studying in Korea move toward residency and naturalization
Expanded from 5 specialized science/tech universities to 32 universities total (adding 27 general universities)
With a university president’s recommendation, applicants may receive F-2 residency, and after 3 years on F-2, become eligible for F-5 permanent residency or special naturalization (as applicable)

2) Expanded Online Reporting of Employment Information (Effective: Jan 2, 2026)

Before visiting immigration for extension/status change, foreign residents must pre-report employment info online (job type, industry, annual income, etc.)
First-time reporting after registration and updates due to changes can be filed via HiKorea (HIKOREA) e-services
During the pilot period (Jan–Jun), online and paper reporting will run in parallel
